World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, 16 January 2007

The long awaited expansion pack was finally released. Millions of players started leveling again to hit the level 70 barrier. New challenges ahead. The servers were extremely crowded and especially in the Hellfire Peninsula there were lines waiting for respawns to get a chance to kill a mob....

What is the Burning Crusade?

"Several years have passed since the Burning Legion's defeat at Mount Hyjal and the races of Azeroth have continued to rebuild their once shattered lives. With renewed strength, the heroes of the Horde and Alliance have begun to explore new lands and broken through the Dark Portal to investigate the realms beyond the known world. Will these heroes find friends or foes? What dangers and rewards lie in wait beyond the Dark Portal? And what will they do when they discover that the demons they thought vanquished have returned to renew their terrible Burning Crusade?

World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade is the exciting new expansion to Blizzard's award-winning massively multiplayer online role-playing game. A new webdesign, 25 Aug 2007

Nearly two years ago we decided to have the website redesigned and vamped-up. About six months later all meetings and discussions appeared to be in vein; what happened:
A proposal was made to build a new website around a Content Management System (CMS) where webcontent and design is split up; webcontent would be much easier to update. A new project was founded to develop the new website in Mambo. During the run of this project, Mambo support was stopped and we had to switch to it succesor Joomla.
Then, at a certain moment, the new webdesigner quit his job without informing us.......

A new webdesigner rang at the door, a member of the WoW team; the work on filling the Joomla databases continued, a new webdesign was tested.
On the flight we found out that the basic security system Joomla had, could not fullfil our needs. ByOs Technologies (an addon developer for Joomla) provided a working solution and we purchased their security package.
Two new disasters struck: in December 2006 the webdesigner left our wow-guild and stopped working on the design. ByOS remotely (!!) disabled the security package by December 31, 2006, no warning, no emails; the package just stopped working. E-mails to ByOS weren't answered; message on their forum were removed, although our license was valid till August 2007...

When all of us were thinking what to do now, the sky was lit and we were introduced to SolidDesigns a professional webdesign company in Belgium. The company was contracted and severals weeks later to our pleasant surprise a new great design was presented, all beyond our expectancy :)
Each game its own banners, flashes and backgrounds. New menus, buttons and grphical display.
We decided to create our own CMS and have the website generated by PHP. The result is what you see now. And we are very pleased to present it to you.

Mady, thanks for the new design, you did a Great job !!

Lan Party #07, 4 November 2007

This year some 50 members attended our yearly lan-party. Thirty-five players from our WoW-community, the others our FPS-die-hards.
We were happy to be among the first to enjoy the new game-servers, game-computers and flat-screen-panels TGS just installed in the weeks before the party. Several members were so stunned by the beauty of the flat-screens, they immedialtely purchased 22 or even 24 inch screens for home-usage :)
Many members also gave a try to games they normally do not play (FarCry, Crysis, etc.).

CoD/4: Modern Warfare, 6 November 2007

Alot of player were looking forward for this new version and now it hit the streets. A new team is formed and we will be recruting soon.

FDNL has always been very active on the Call of Duty scène under several team names. This year team Zaitsev, our CTF squad on CoD2 since April 2006, decided to continue there activity on CoD4. In the first few months they focused on the Sabotage ladder but after a while they decided that they wanted to expand the gaming ground and participate on the Search & Destroy ladders as well. We hope that we are able to maintain our good reputation which we earned during all these years of playing the Call of Duty series.
